To find out more about Nuit Blanche/ Bring to Light NYC stay tuned after the jump…..

What is it? Nuit Blanche is a global all-night public art festival that first originated in Paris, Berlin, and St. Petersburg. The purpose of the festival is to illuminate cities around the world and it has finally arrived in New York City. In this NYC manifestation, Nuit Blanche, – or its new English name, “Bring to Light” – will gather New Yorkers together for a community-driven visual and performance art event, which aims to animate public space and illuminate the industrial waterfront in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

DoTank:Brooklyn, the organizer of the event put together this great video:

According to their website:

“More than 50 artists and performers will create site-specific installations, projections, and performances along several blocks of North Brooklyn’s landmark architecture. Film, video, and interactive media will illuminate the facades of shipping warehouses, abandoned water towers, and massive factories. Visitors will be drawn through streets, parks, and open courtyards by light sculptures, LED art, and sound installations. A curated group of chefs and artisan food makers will present their creations in a dining room with reclaimed wood banquet tables within one of Brooklyn’s historic factory buildings. An alleyway swirling with film projections will lead participants along a path that culminates in an expansive view of the Manhattan skyline–and alate-night dance party. The event takes place in coordination with Greenpoint Open Studios, a weekend-long celebration of the working spaces of area artists, and will be broadcast live at a simultaneous Nuit Blanche event in Toronto.”

This event is also trying to be funded by the Kickstarter program. Check out their page and see if you have any pledges in you. For more information go to their website: http://bringtolightnyc.org/.

I will be there!

Yours,

-A
