Live Blogging from the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic
Ok kids: so it turns out I was able to change my flight so I could attend the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, today, June 5th, 2011. Playing today, will be Argentinian Polo star, Nacho Figueras, who is also the face of Ralph Lauren as well as Lauren’s perfume “Romance” with his wife Delfina Figueras-Blaquier.

Introducing the next chapter in the Romance story; husband and wife, Nacho Figueras and Delfina “Delfi” Blaquier, are the latest stars of the 2011 Ralph Lauren Romance campaign directed by renowned photographer, Bruce Weber.
Let me tell you that I planned at being at the ferry docks at 10:30am so as to be ready for when the gates opened at 11am. As it is with large groups, being on time is tough, so it’s 1:30pm and we are shoulder deep in a line that spans down the South Street Sea port from the Brooklyn Bridge to the Maritime Building where you take the ferry…And then it loops around on the opposite side of the highway! We’ve been in the line for 45 minutes, but now it’s growing and will probably push the 2 hour mark. It’s serious business guys.
But it is moving relatively quickly; some people are cutting – shame on them, but Karma is a bitch – and we’ll get there in the next 20min.
The weather is overcast with a light breeze; there is a chance of rain, but the sun keeps peaking through the clouds, which is promising.
I will continue blogging throughout the day, but I’ll show you some pictures of the transit status while we are still on the Manhattan side of things.
We are finally entering the ferry station! Photos of the line will follow.
And there is Bill Cunningham (!), renowned New York Times Style photographer and a person we have blogged about before: here. We love him!
Snapping photos of sharp Polo fashions is easy today – everybody is dressed in their Sunday best: lots of hats, wedges, breezy dresses – some tight and form fitted (mine, picture to follow;)).
We are about to get on the ferry! Yay!:
And here was the line:
The polo game starts at 2:30pm and gates close at 5:30pm guys, so you better be on your way if you are even planning on going to this thing. I feel like all of NYC is coming!
And then there were other, faster, more expensive forms of transport: Helicopter.
More when we land on the Island – including hotties and Indefinite Transit Polo Outfits!
